’tis the season… to be busy!

It’s been a busy December for asdesignuk, with festive projects on the go all month. Christmas card for Velvet, eCard for Stagecoach North East, 2011 Calendar for Spark, festive logos for Fabusales and McNally & Thompson, promotion of the Hazel O’Conner Collective charity single, Re-Joyce (In The Bleak Midwinter), featuring Toyah, and of course our very own, very first, Christmas card.

Site 3.0 for Toyah, site 1.0 for The Humans…

Three years to the month since I redesigned the official Toyah Willcox website, www.toyahwillcox.com, the site has re-launched again with a more modern approach. The site was developed fully in flash to coincide with the release of Toyah’s first digital single in 2007. Although the site that fitted, aesthetically, Toyah’s career direction it soon became user-unfriendly with the emergence of the smart phone and increasing use of mobile web technology. The aim of the new site is not only to provide a comprehensive career archive, a frequently updated news portal and an outlet for new music, video and imagery, it has been developed with a view to improving access for mobile users.

And as toyahwillcox.com enters its third incarnation, thehumansofficial is also born. This is the first official website for Toyah’s ‘other’ new music project – a band she formed in 2007 with Bill Rieflin (REM) and her musical director and live band bass player Chris Wong.

Toyah’s Crimson Queen hits Japanese shelves…

The 2008 solo album by Toyah, In The Court Of The Crimson Queen, has been issued in Japan along with original artwork by asdesignuk with accompanying OBI strip, typical of the Japanese CD market, and additional booklet featuring Japanese copy. See the Toyah gallery for more.

Toyah’s experimental 90s album reissued with rejuvenated artwork…

asdesignuk has completed the artwork for the upcoming reissue of Toyah’s 1994 album, Dreamchild. The experimental oddity in Toyah’s career was written and produced, in the main, by Mike Bennett (The Fall) and saw Toyah step back from her usual role of primary lyricist and songwriter.

The new release features a new take on the original sleeve with expanded booklet, true to the original yet rejuvenated for 2010 and the diehard fan market. See the Toyah Reissues Program gallery in the Work section for more.
